Since 2002, the Firewise Communities/USA Recognition Program has empowered neighbors to work together in reducing their wildfire risk.  Join the growing network of more than 1200 recognized Firewise Communities from across the nation taking action and ownership in preparing and protecting their homes against the threat of wildfire.

The Mill Valley Fire Department embraces the message of Firewise Communities and is an active participant in creating fire safe communities.  In the past two years, the Mill Valley Fire Department has created five (5) Firewise Communities.  They are:

  • Mill Valley Meadows Homeowner's Association
  • Shelter Ridge Homeowner's Association
  • Blithedale Highlands Owner's Association
  • Scott Valley Homeowner's Association
  • Scott Highland Neighborhood Association

For more information on becoming a Firewise Community, contact the Mill Valley Fire Department at 415-389-4130 or Battalion Chief Scott Barnes at 415-389-4139.
