City Hall is closed holidays and every other Friday. Click 
here for detailed dates.
**Over the Counter service is geared towards small, residential-only projects that can be plan checked in approximately 10-15 minutes, such as minor kitchen or bath renovations. The service is on a first come, first served basis. Over-the-counter sign-ups begin at 8:00 am, services begin at 10:00 am.

It is recommended that you bring your plans in during regular counter hours to discuss the scope of the project to determine if the project qualifies for the over the counter permitting services.

Housing Advisory Committee Update for July 2019

The Mill Valley City Council has assembled a Housing Advisory Committee (HAC) to address on-going concerns about affordable housing in Mill Valley, and as a means of advancing various General Plan programs aimed at encouraging the continued diversity of housing and income levels in the City.

City Council to Review Modifications to The "Accessory Dwelling Unit" (ADU) Ordinance on July 1, 2019

June 19, 2019 

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are an important and well respected piece of Mill Valley’s smaller scale, affordable housing stock. The proposed modifications to ADU regulations (contained the Mill Valley Municipal Code section 20.90) incorporate direction received from City Council and Planning Commission to establish Junior ADU regulations and create additional regulations, where possible, to ensure that ADUs are maintained as truly separate, rentable units and used for the intended purpose of a dwelling unit.

Community members working or residing in Marin County with demonstrated experience and practice in urban planning, housing development, affordable housing policy development and/or implementation of related areas of professional work are encouraged to apply.
