The Mill Valley City Council is seeking applicants to serve, contribute and to utilize the top talent that exists among the residents of the community for the City’s various Boards, Commissions and Committees. New terms begin March 1st for a three-year period. Members may serve no more than two consecutive terms. These appointments are made by the City Council and serve without financial compensation.
Art Commission- Two members’ terms are expiring, and one incumbent is eligible to reapply. The Commission arranges exhibits at City Hall and the Community Center, sponsors concerts in the Plaza as well as the annual Click Off Photography Event. This is a hands-on working group that organizes and coordinates special artistic events along with its monthly “First Tuesday Art Walk.” The Commission needs task-oriented, focused members committed to community outreach. Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee– No vacancies present at this time.
Emergency Preparedness Commission– Two members’ terms are expiring, and one incumbent is eligible to reapply. The Commission assists in pre-planning for emergency or disaster incidents and serves as liaison to neighborhoods, businesses and schools and advocates the need for ongoing emergency preparedness by coordinating neighborhoods, medical personnel and encouraging CERT training throughout southern Marin. Library Board of Trustees– Two members’ terms are expiring and both incumbents are eligible to reapply. This advisory board meets on the second Thursday evening of every month. Trustees advise the City Librarian on matters related to the Library, advocate for the Library, and make reports to City Council. Download application.
Marin County Commission on Aging- No vacancies present at this time.
Parks and Recreation Commission- Two members' terms are expiring and both incumbents are eligible to reapply. There is an addition vacancy in this Commission, as one of its members recently resigned. This five-member commission meets on the first Wednesday evening of each month to review issues relating to City parks, recreational facilities and equipment. The Commission also studies the tree planting and replacement program of the City. Download application.
Planning Commission- No vacancies present at this time.
PLEASE NOTE that interviews will be held in early February 2012. Applicants will receive an invitation letter in the mail after the January 31st deadline with a more specific interview date. Final appointments to the City’s Boards and Commissions will be made at the February 21, 2012 Regular City Council meeting.
