On Friday, December 8th 2017, the Mill Valley Police Department will be conducting a pedestrian crosswalk and awareness operation. The purpose of the operation is to increase the level of safety and awareness for both motorists and pedestrians in regards to traffic laws pertaining to crosswalks.
The operation will consist of decoys acting as pedestrians, crossing streets in marked crosswalks, in accordance with the California Vehicle Code. When a violation is observed, a marked unit will conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the violator and issue a citation when appropriate.
Numerous locations throughout the City of Mill Valley will be used during the operation, with a heavy focus on the newly completed Miller Avenue.
