Building History in 3D

Calling all teens! The Mill Valley Public Library's "Building History in 3D" internship program is back for another season. If you're a high school student or you know a student who might be interested in 3D modeling, architecture, or virtual reality, check out our program. Over the fall, teens explore emerging technologies and recreate historical Mill Valley buildings using SketchUp 3D modeling software and game engine Unity. This may be a jumping off point for students to think about and explore possible future paths of study or careers.

No previous experience is necessary. We'll teach students everything they need to know to get started. Registration is limited so students should register as soon as possible. For details about the program, including the fall schedule and registration link, click here.

Not a high school student? Come visit the Library's Lucretia Little History Room and explore TimeWalk Mill Valley, the historical virtual world that students in past cycles of the "Building History in 3D" program have helped to create. Try on our Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, step back in time, and browse the buildings modeled by students.
