Mill Valley of the 1960s and ‘70s became home to some of the most noted musicians of the day. Music historian and College of Marin professor Richie Unterberger will discuss the lasting influence and legacy of Marty Balin and Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Sons of Champlin, Van Morrison, and Dan Hicks as well as storied local venues like Village Music and the Sweetwater Music Hall. Vintage film clips and photos will enrich this audiovisual presentation.

Richie Unterberger is the author of nearly a dozen books on music history, travel, and progressive politics, as well as several hundred CD liner notes. He is a contributor to All Music Guide and MOJO magazine and teaches courses on rock music history at the College of Marin.
