Current Ordinance Proposed Additions

Cut and remove all pyrophytic combustible vegetation within: 

  1. 10' from property lines and driveways
  2. 30'-150’ from structures
  3. Tree maintenance from 10’ of chimney, stove pipe and roof line.
  4. Clear needles from roof and gutters
  5. "Limb up" trees up to 10’
  1. Hardscape first 3’ around buildings. Succulents permitted.
  2. Specific vegetation removal 30’ from buildings and 10 feet along property lines and driveways:
  • Acacia
  • Bamboo
  • Juniper
  • Italian Cypress

At their March 25, 2019 Community Meeting, the Mill Valley City Council and Fire Officials presented to an audience of over 350 community members an update on the proposed ordinance, as well as an update on recent fire prevention and preparedness activities, evacuation plans, and emergency communications.
