Fire Chief Tom Welch Awarded "Tom Forster Perpetual Leadership Award"

Fire Chief Tom Welch was recently awarded the "Tom Forster Perpetual Leadership Award" at the Marin County Fire Chiefs annual recognition dinner.

The dinner brings together chief officers throughout Marin County in an effort to thank last years’ association leaders and install the new officers for the coming year. The award recognizes leaders who are actively working for improved fire service delivery throughout Marin County.  Awardees are collaborators with outstanding vision, excellent perspective and tireless bridge building skills.

"Chief Welch's commitment to fire safe communities is highly regarded in Mill Valley and Marin County," City Manager Jim McCann said. "Tom has created new pathways to get residents involved in making Mill Valley fire resilient. His strong leadership and stewardship on this critical issue is a tremendous asset to our community."

The perpetual award will live with the Mill Valley Fire Department for one year, at which time a new member of the Marin County Fire Service will be selected for the honor.
