Update on Restaurant Renovations and Openings: Depot, Gravity Tavern and Watershed Restaurant

August 12, 2019

Depot Bookstore and Cafe
The Depot project is currently in the final stages of contracts and budgeting with the leasing tenant.  The project plans are complete and ready for permit issuance by the City for both the City downtown bathroom project and the tenant improvement project for the New Depot Restaurant and Bookstore.  Staff is hoping to see construction activity commence within the month of September.

Gravity Tavern
Gravity Tavern opened its doors on June 22 at 38 Miller Avenue. The concept for this restaurant was inspired by the power of gravity it took at the turn of the century for four wheel coasters to glide down the sheer, twisting railway from a hospitality-driven tavern on the top of Mount Tam to downtown Mill Valley. The restaurant is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays with brunch and lunch hours on weekends.

Watershed Restaurant
Watershed Restaurant at the Mill Valley Lumber Yard opened its doors on July 4th. The restaurant is open for lunch every day starting at 11am and serves dinner on Wednesday to Sunday starting at 5pm.  Watershed is a community-focused restaurant, utilizing organic foods that are sourced from local farmers and producers. The cuisine is Mediterranean-influenced California cooking and grilling with craft beers and an eclectic wine list.

The updated hours will accommodate weekly lunch and weekend brunch opportunity, while the proposed closing time will allow for an extra hour of public service.  The executive chef confirmed that the target opening is early fall 2019.
