Miller Avenue Construction Update - Week of August 17

The Miller Avenue Streetscape Project is an 18-month construction project to repairinfrastructure and improve multi-modal use of Miller Avenue, includingaddressing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages and abilities,providing better transit access, and improving motorist safety.

Construction began the week of June 13, 2016 and will continue through Fall2017. Please note that all construction schedules are subject to change due toweather restrictions and other unforeseen delays.

Here is the latest news on the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project:

What happened last week: 
Work crews placed new concretebetween 319 Miller Avenue and Locust Avenue, and between Valley Circle andEvergreen Avenue. The contractor installed new sewer pipes, as well asclean-outs, which are capped pipes provides access to a sewer line, allowingpeople to clean out sewer blockages, between Willow Street and Reed Street alongthe south side of Miller Avenue.

What is happening this week:
The contractor willcontinue placing new concrete between Valley Circle and Evergreen Avenue alongthe north side of Miller Avenue. Work crews will continue to install new sewerservices and clean-outs between Willow and Reed along the south side of MillerAvenue. Beginning Wednesday, August 17, work crews will remove the sidewalkalong the north side of Miller Avenue between Locust Avenue and La Goma Street.

What to expect in the next few weeks:
The contractorwill continue placing new concrete between Valley Circle and Evergreen Avenuealong the north side of Miller Avenue. Work crews will continue to install newsewer services and clean-outs between Willow and Reed along the south side ofMiller Avenue. Beginning Wednesday, August 17, work crews will remove thesidewalk along the north side of Miller Avenue between Locust Avenue and La GomaStreet.

Other Construction Projects AroundTown:
Camino Alto Sewer Facility Improvements: TheSewerage Agency of Southern Marin is working on Camino Alto to upgrade andreplace sewage facilities to allow the agency to continue to serve the communityin a safe and efficient manner. Work on this project is significantly completewith minor items remaining to be completed by Friday, August 26, 2016.


The City recommends that motorists:

  • Add time to your trip and plan ahead.
  • Drive slowly through the construction zone.
  • Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.

City and Construction Management staff are making every effort to mitigateimpacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notifylocal businesses and residents of the planned work. City and ConstructionManagement staff will provide regular updates to the community regarding theproject.
