Miller Avenue Construction Update - Week of September 14

The Miller Avenue Streetscape Project is an 18-month construction project to repairinfrastructure and improve multi-modal use of Miller Avenue, includingaddressing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages and abilities,providing better transit access, and improving motorist safety.

Construction began the week of June 13, 2016 and will continue through Fall2017. Please note that all construction schedules are subject to change due toweather restrictions and other unforeseen delays.

Here is the latest news on the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project:

What happened last week: 
The contractor placed concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter along the north side of Miller Avenue between Valley Circle and Locust Avenue. Work crews also paved driveways along both sides of Miller Avenue between Valley Circle and Evergreen Avenue. The contractor continued to install sewer lateral and cleanouts along both sides of Miller Avenue between Willow Street and Reed Street. Work crews began saw-cutting,barricading and demolition on Miller Avenue between La Goma Street and Evergreen Avenue.

What is happening this week:
The contractor continues to pave the new concrete sidewalk and driveways along the north side of Miller Avenue between Valley Circle and Evergreen Avenue. Work crews continue to install electrical and irrigation systems and place concrete sidewalks on Miller Avenue between La Goma Street and Locust Avenue. The contractor continues to install sewer laterals and cleanouts along both sides of Miller Avenue between Willow Street and Reed Street. Work crews are installing barricades and doing demolition on Miller Avenue between La Goma Street and Evergreen Avenue.

What to expect in the next few weeks:
The contractor will resume construction to install the dual 30-inch elliptical storm drain pipe and 42-inch storm drain pipe, as well as the storm drain vault and manhole. Work crews will continue to place the concrete sidewalk along the north side of Miller Avenue between La Goma Street and Locust Avenue. The contractor will continue to install sewer laterals and cleanouts along both sides of Miller Avenue between Willow Street and Reed Street. Work crews will continue to grade soils, place concrete and install electrical and irrigation systems on Miller Avenue between La Goma Street and Evergreen Avenue. The contractor will begin layout and barricading for the south side of Miller Avenue between Willow Street and Locust Avenue.


The City recommends that motorists:

  • Add time to your trip and plan ahead.
  • Drive slowly through the construction zone.
  • Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.

City and Construction Management staff are making every effort to mitigate impacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notify local businesses and residents of the planned work. City and Construction Management staff will provide regular updates to the community regarding the project.
