The Miller Avenue Streetscape Project is an 18-month construction project to repair infrastructure and improve multi-modal use of Miller Avenue, including addressing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages and abilities,providing better transit access, and improving motorist safety.
Construction began the week of June 13, 2016 and will continue through Fall 2017. Please note that all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather restrictions and other unforeseen delays.

What happened last week:
The contractor used grout to seal up the reinforced concrete pipe of the storm drain on the north side of Miller Avenue between Valley Circle and La Goma Street. Work crews replaced sewer laterals and cleanouts on both the 8-inch and 15-inch sewer lines in the Parkway Room between Millwood Street and Park Avenue. The contractor graded soils, adjust utility boxes, install electrical and irrigation systems and place concrete between Willow Street and Locust Avenue. The contractor replaced sewer laterals and cleanouts in the Passage area near downtown. Work crews did demolition and installed pedestrian barricades on the south side of Miller Avenue between Critterland Pets (336 Miller Ave.) and the former location of Once Around (352 Miller Ave.) and started to install concrete curbs, sidewalks and gutters as well as storm drains and electrical lines. The landscape contractor continued to receive requests for work and to get them approved.
What is happening this week:
Work crews continue to replace sewer laterals on both the 8-inch and 15-inch sewer lines in the Parkway Room between Millwood Street and Park Avenue, and should be finished by November 11. The contractor continues to replace sewer laterals and cleanouts and do some paving in the Passage area near downtown. Work crews are doing demolition, placing new concrete and doing landscape work on the south side of Miller Avenue between Tamalpais Paint & Color (338 Miller Ave.) and Montford Avenue. The landscape contractor may start digging out and cleaning up the planter areas this week on the north side of Miller Avenue, as well as placing topsoil in them. Work in the Marsh Room around Tam High continues to be on hold.
What to expect in the next few weeks:
Work crews will continue to replace sewer laterals on both the 8-inch and 15-inch sewer lines in the Parkway Room between Millwood Street and Park Avenue, and are expected to finish by Nov. 11. The contractor will continue to replace sewer laterals and cleanouts in the Passage area near downtown. Work crews will do demolition, place new concrete and do landscape work on the south side of Miller Avenue between Tamalpais Paint & Color (338 Miller Ave.) and Montford Avenue. The landscape contractor will continue to work digging out and cleaning up planter areas on the north side of Miller Avenue and placing top soil in them. The contractor will begin replacing sewer laterals and cleanouts in the Gateway area in the coming weeks, and work crews will begin replacing the 15-inch sewer line near Tam High on November 21, weather permitting. Marsh Room work continues to be on hold.
The City recommends that motorists:
Add time to your trip and plan ahead.
Drive slowly through the construction zone.
Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.
City and Construction Management staff are making every effort to mitigate impacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notify local businesses and residents of the planned work.
