The City has postponed the November 16, 2016 Community Meeting regarding the Almonte/Miller Avenue intersection. The meeting's purpose is to address concerns raised about modifying the Almonte Boulevard/ Miller Avenue intersection in conjunction with the adopted Miller Avenue Streetscape Plan. We recognize that there are concerns about traffic congestion in this area. The Mill Valley City Council shares your concerns related to traffic congestion and is pursuing multiple efforts to address the issue.
Our project team is reviewing the Miller Avenue/Almonte Boulevard intersection improvements as approved in the Miller Avenue Streetscape Master Plan, and we are working on an alternative intersection plan that adheres to our Complete Streets policy, improves cyclist safety and avoids or minimizes impacts to motorists.
We have developed preliminary alternative concepts that meet these goals, but require more time to fine-tune the designs. The extra time will allow the team to conduct additional field observations and to evaluate any potential travel time impacts.
We anticipate rescheduling the meeting to occur in early December.Although we are eager to meet and share our recommendation with the community, additional time will allow for a more comprehensive review of the alternatives.
We will provide the new meeting date, time and location within the next few weeks. Thank you for understanding our extra efforts to meet this unique intersection’s challenges.
