Here is the latest news on the Miller Avenue StreetscapeProject:

What happened last week:
Pacific Gas & Electric workers finished their work in excavating and installing electrical cables on Miller Avenue at La Goma Street, allowing the contractor to resume installation of the 36-inch storm drain in that area. Work crews replaced sewer laterals and cleanouts on both the 8-inch and 15-inch sewer lines in the Parkway Room between Millwood Street and Park Avenue and in the Passage area near downtown. The contractor poured the concrete for the 7-Eleven driveway on the north side of Miller Avenue at Locust Avenue, and the driveway will reopen after seven days once it is poured. Work crews installed the concrete sidewalk, curbs and gutters along the south side of Miller Avenue between Once Around and Pilates ProWorks, as well as the first half of the entrance to the Chevron gas station. The contractor also did some minor grinding of the asphalt on Miller Avenue in that area.

Work crews are finishing the installation of the 36-inch storm drain and the associated manholes on Miller Avenue at La Goma Street. Once that work is finished, all of the main underground storm drains for the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project will be installed. The contractor replaced sewer laterals and cleanouts on both the 8-inch and 15-inch sewer lines in the Parkway Room between Millwood Street and Park Avenue and in the Passage area near downtown. A pedestrian detour near the sidewalk in front of Jiffy Lube, at 374 Miller Ave will occur through the end of the month. The sidewalk detour will be in effect at all times (24 hours) while construction work occurs in this area. Customers may access Jiffy Lube from Montford Avenue, or as directed based on signage. For safety purposes, please follow all pedestrian directional signs and do not cross through the construction zone.

What to expect in the next few weeks:
With Thursday and Friday recognized as part of the Thanksgiving holiday, the week of November 21 will be a shorter week. The constructor will place the final stretch of concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters along the south side of Miller Avenue at Montford Avenue near Jiffy Lube. Starting the week of Nov. 28, work crews will begin sewer work in the Gateway area.
