Miller Avenue Construction Update - Week of December 19 - 23, 2016
The Miller Avenue Streetscape Project is an 18-month construction project to repair infrastructure and improve multi-modal use of Miller Avenue, including addressing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages and abilities, providing better transit access, and improving motorist safety.
Construction began the week of June 13, 2016 and will continue through 2017. Please note that all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather restrictions and other unforeseen delays.
Here is the latest news on the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project:
What happened last week: The contractor installed the remaining sewer service laterals in the Gateway area between Reed Street and Camino Alto. Work crews poured concrete for the second half of the Jiffy Lube driveway on the south side of Miller Avenue at Montford Avenue, marking the end of the driveway construction near Jiffy Lube. The contractor restriped lanes and did demolition for the creation of new medians on Miller Avenue between Willow Street and La Goma Street/Montford Avenue. Work crews installed new street signs along the north of Miller Avenue in the areas where work has been completed.
What is happening this week:The contractor is grouting the newly installed sewer lines in the Gateway area between Reed Street and Camino Alto. Work crews are grinding the pavement along the south side of Miller Avenue between the Chevron at 340 Miller Avenue and Montford Avenue intersection. The contractor is pouring concrete for the center island medians between just north of Willow Street to Locust Avenue.
What to expect in the next few weeks:Contractor will shut down for the Christmas, and New Year Holidays starting December 23 through January 2, 2017. During this time no construction-related activities will occur. Work will resume on January 3, 2017.
