Starting January 3, 2017, the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project contractor will install a new 15 inch sewer service in the Gateway area with an open trench operation on Miller Avenue. The alignment of the sewer is split between the two outbound through lanes, requiring both lanes to be closed between Gomez Way and Camino Alto. The improvements are expected to be completed by Saturday January 7, 2017.
To accommodate this work, Gomez Way will be closed to outbound (downhill) traffic from Homestead Blvd to Miller Avenue. Detour signage will be placed at the intersection of Homestead Blvd and Gomez Way, directing motorists to use alternate routes such as Laverne Avenue, Reed St, or Almonte Blvd.
Please watch for lane changes, flaggers, changes to the operations of the Miller Ave/Camino Ave traffic signal, restricted parking in the area during regular business hours. Outbound cyclists will be detoured at Reed Street to use Sycamore and Camino Alto as an Alternate Route. Pedestrians and cyclists using the crosswalk to cross Miller Ave at Camino Alto will be guided around the work area by a flagger. This work has been scheduled during the school break to minimize impacts.
