Miller Avenue Construction Update - Week of May 30 - June 2, 2017

What happened last week:
The contractor continued to demolish existing concrete sidewalk and place new concrete sidewalks in the Parkway area of Miller Avenue between Millwood Street and Willow Street, as well as in the Gateway area between Valley Circle and Camino Alto, from the 2AM Club and proceeding along outbound Miller Avenue. Work crews continued to install the bus shelter on the south side of Miller Avenue. The contractor continued to install the Marsh Bridge. Work crews continued placing new soil material for grading and installing new concrete curbs and gutters for the new sidewalk and a bike lane on inbound Miller Avenue at Sunnyside Avenue downtown in front of the small shopping center that contains Boo Koo and True Botanicals.

What is happening this week:
The contractor continues to demolish the existing concrete and place the new crosswalks on Miller Avenue at Valley Circle and at Reed Street. Work crews continue to install the bus shelter on the south side of Miller Avenue. The contractor continues to install the Marsh Bridge. Work crews continue to install irrigation systems and plant top soil in the center island medians. Works crews are resuming the installation of streetlights and street signs along Miller Avenue. The contractor is beginning to remove existing concrete in the Parkway area of Miller Avenue between Millwood Street and Willow Street.

What to expect in the next few weeks:
The contractor will continue work in the Marsh room on the pedestrian bridge. Work crews will be restoring the roadway in the Main Street section in preparation for the Full Depth Reclamation process in the Main Street section of the project between Willow Street and Reed Street/Valley Circle. The contractor will be suspending for four to six weeks the project's new sidewalk and a bike lane project on inbound Miller Avenue at Sunnyside Avenue downtown in front of the small shopping center that contains Boo Koo and True Botanicals. Work will resume in early July.

NOTE: All forecasted work is contingent on weather.


The City recommends that motorists:
  •  Add time to your trip and plan ahead
  • Drive slowly through the construction zone.
  • Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.

City and Construction Management staff are making every effort to mitigate impacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notify local businesses and residents of the planned work. City and Construction Management staff will provide regular updates to the community regarding the project.
