Miller Avenue Construction Update - Week of June 26-30, 2017

What happened last week:
The contractor finished removing concrete in the Parkway section between Millwood Street and Willow Street to achieve the final roadway grade level. Work crews lowered the manholes in the Main Street area between Willow Street and Reed Street/Valley Circle in preparation for the upcoming roadway Full Depth Reclamation work. The contractor continued grinding the roadway and removing underground concrete structures, for both inbound and outbound Miller Avenue in the Main Street area area between Willow Street and Reed Street/Valley Circle.

What is happening this week:
Work crews continue to grind the roadway and remove underground concrete structures, for both inbound and outbound Miller Avenue in the Main Street area area between Willow Street and Reed Street/Valley Circle. The contractor continues to install irrigation systems and planting soils at various locations on Miller Avenue. Work crews are installing the redwood bridge walkway on Miller Avenue near Sunnyside Avenue.

What to expect in the next few weeks:
The contractor will continue to grind the roadway and remove underground concrete structures, for both outbound Miller Avenue in the Main Street area area between Willow Street and Reed Street/Valley Circle. Work crews will begin asphalt pulverization nighttime work on the evening of July 9 and continue for two weeks - one week for outbound Miller Avenue and one week for inbound. During the day on Fridays, the contractor will pave the first two-inch section of asphalt. Also during the day at this time, work crews will grind the asphalt, install utility manholes and pave Miller Avenue in the Marsh (Camino Alto to Almonte Blvd.), Gateway (Reed Street/Valley Circle to Camino Alto), Parkway (Millwood Street to Willow Street) and Passage (Sunnyside Avenue to Millwood Street) sections.

No work is scheduled for Monday (July 3) or Tuesday (4) for the holiday.
NOTE: All forecasted work is contingent on weather.


The City recommends that motorists:
  •  Add time to your trip and plan ahead
  • Drive slowly through the construction zone.
  • Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.

City and Construction Management staff are making every effort to mitigate impacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notify local businesses and residents of the planned work. City and Construction Management staff will provide regular updates to the community regarding the project.
