Wednesday evening, Mayor Jessica Sloan, Vice Mayor Stephanie Moulton-Peters, City Manager Jim McCann, Police Chief Angel Bernal, and other City staff met with a handful of Miller Avenue and Locust Avenue business owners to discuss the status of the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project and construction related issues. Topics raised included stepping up parking enforcement, more detailed and frequent communication regarding upcoming and day-to-day construction activities, and flexible parking restrictions.
"I want to thank the business community for meeting with us, and for having a very open and productive dialog about the issues and concerns that a major project like this can present to the local businesses," Mayor Jessica Sloan said. "We are dedicated to working with you to find solutions."
The potential impacts of the roadway work on residents and businesses has been in the forefront of our minds throughout the planning and construction activities. We have worked to avoid impacts and to reduce disruption to residents and businesses. The City has teamed up with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to implement the MillerUP Business Support Program to promote and assist Miller Ave businesses, and the City has conducted extensive outreach and regular communication regarding project status and coming activities.
We encourage the community to support Miller Ave area businesses by continuing to shop there during construction. These local businesses are a part of what makes Mill Valley great, so please do your part to help them out as we continue work on this important project.
