Dipsea Steps Closed - July 10th to mid-August


Construction Notice: Dipsea Steps Renovation Project Begins Monday, July 10.

The Dipsea Foundation is working with the City of Mill Valley to renovate the second flight of the Dipsea Steps. The work will begin Monday, July 10, 2017 and will be completed by mid-August. During the construction, the steps will be closed between Marion Avenue and Hazel Avenue 24 hours a day. Signs will be posted at the closure with detour route information.

The project consists of demolishing the old steps and reconstructing new steps, which will be colored concrete with brass plaques. Other features include building a stone retaining wall, installing wooden handrails on both sides of the steps and repairing utilities in the City right-of-way. The project is being fully funded by the Foundation through the sale of individual steps. (Steps are still available for purchase. Check the Foundation’s website at
