Community members can dispose of old or unwanted medicine and prescription drugs at the Mill Valley Police Department during regular office hours.
The Police Department urges residents to take advantage of this program. Prescription drug abuse is a serious problem in the United States, and removing unused and unwanted drugs from the home reduces the chances of abuse or accidental misuse. In addition to helping prevent abuse, the service also prevents environmental contamination, as the drugs are disposed of according to legal and environmental standards.
To dipose of unwanted items, simply put your medicines into a ziplock bag and put the bag into the blue collection bin located in the lobby. Liquids and creams should be in their original containers (bottles or jars), while pills should be removed from their original packaging or containers.
The Police Department does not accept razors, needles, or other sharp objects.
The Mill Valley Police Department is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Fridays from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
