Media Release – Residential Burglary Suspect in Custody

On Wednesday morning, 09/20/17, at approximately 0517 hours, Mill Valley PD Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Lovell Ave regarding an interrupted residential burglary.  The residents were awakened to an intruder inside of their home.  The intruder told the residents he was “undercover” and advised the residents to call 911.  He then fled the home, and the male resident ran after him.  The suspect left the area carrying a flashlight.

Minutes later, the suspect attempted to contact a neighboring resident at the front door of the home while carrying a flashlight and announcing he was the “police.”

With the assistance of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and the Sausalito Police Department, a search for the suspect was conducted.  At 0558 hours, PD Units located and detained Robert Thresh (36), a resident of Sonoma County.

Thresh was later booked into the Marin County Jail for burglary, possession of burglary tools, impersonating a police officer and for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
