Vote for Your Favorite Bookmarks

Congratulations to the 25 semi-finalists in our annual bookmark contest!  Now it's your turn to vote. Come in to the Library to vote for your five favorite bookmarks. Five winners will have their art made into real bookmarks for everyone to use at the Library. One vote per person, please. Voting closes Monday, October 31 at 5:00pm.

StoryWalk at Tennessee ValleyThe Hike

Kickoff Event: Saturday October 15, 1:00-3:00pm at the Tennessee Valley trailhead

A StoryWalk is a fun, family-friendly, outdoor activity, where pages of a book are placed along a walking route. Each stop along the way displays one page of the book. Starting October 15, you can read The Hike by Alison Farrell while enjoying a short walk along the Tennessee Valley trail. Come to the kickoff event on Saturday, October 15 at 1:00 for crafts, snacks, and a ranger-led nature walk. Then pick up a free give-away bag, while supplies last. Click here for more information. Halloween Costume Swap

Friday October 14, 3:00-5:00pm at library's Creekside room

Does last year's Halloween costume take up space in your closet? Has your child outgrown a perfectly good costume? Looking for a fresh take on costumes? Join us in the Creekside Room for this costume swap! The rules are easy:

  • Bring washed, gently-used costumes of any size. 
  • If there are accessories (masks, etc) please make sure they're included.
  • Drop them off at the Mill Valley Library any time between now and Friday, October 14th.
  • Come by the library on October 14th between 3-5pm and shop for a new costume!

This program is free. First come, first served. Patrons who donate a costume get early access at 2:30pm. No registration required.

Día de los Muertos Arts and Craftssugar_skull_color

Wednesday November 2, 2:30-3:30pm

Learn about Día de los Muertos traditions and make Day of the Dead-inspired art at this event in both English and Spanish. Together we’ll decorate a large ofrenda altar to honor loved ones, then you’ll get to eat traditional snacks and make Día de los Muertos-inspired art projects to take home. For ages 5 and up. Get Great Kids' Books

Order a Children's Book Pack to get ten (or more!) books hand-selected by Librarians, just for you. You don't even have to come inside the Library. Just click your favorite themes and we'll put together a pack of books you can pick up curbside or at the checkout desk. 

You can get picture books, early readers or chapter books, and choose from topics like Natural World, Fantasy & Magical Creatures, Trucks & Trains, and Librarian Favorites. What a great way to discover new books for children!
