The Environmentally Preferable Food Packaging Ordinance prohibits the use of disposable polystyrene foam for food service ware, and requires the use of environmentally preferable alternatives by all Mill Valley food vendors, restaurants and City Facilities.
The ordinance will advance the City's sustainability leadership and is aligned with the Marin County Solid Waste JPA's goal of becoming a Zero Waste Community. In adopting this ordinance, Mill Valley joins more than 100 U.S. cities that have adopted legislation banning polystyrene foam.
