Earth Awareness Month

Earth Awareness month banner

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mill Valley Arts Commission's Virtual Art Walk provides an online platform to showcase the amazing art that was originally planned for an in-person gallery exhibit. We are honored to be able to offer our community with a new way to experience art of all kinds. For the month of April 2021, we celebrate Earth Awareness Month by presenting a series of local wildlife images.

This photographic exhibit, curated by Marin County Parks, highlights images obtained through a regional ecosystem health study that is supported by the One Tam partner agencies. It gives wildlife researchers, and now the public, a peek into the secret lives of animals who inhabit Marin’s public lands. Enjoy!

Marin Wildlife Picture Index Project

You won’t find a photographer capturing these spirited moments of wildlife. In fact, the wildlife themselves caught their daily lives on camera. The photography in the “Casual in Nature” exhibit, like a scene from a storybook, provides a unique glimpse of frolicking foxes, catnapping coyotes, and jumping jackrabbits. The thoughtfully placed motion-activated cameras that were used to collect this information also tell the story of biodiversity and ecosystem well-being. As we find inspiration from these animal “selfies” and contemplate the wonder and beauty of the natural world in which we share, we are also reminded of our responsibility to protect it.
