City of Mill Valley ISO Rating: Class 1
Insurance Services Office (ISO) collects and evaluates information from communities in the United States on their structure fire suppression capabilities. The data analyzed using the ISO's "Fire Suppression Rating Schedule" and then a Public Protection Classification (PPC) number is assigned to the community. Insurance companies use the Public Protection Classification information for marketing, underwriting and to help establish fair premiums for homeowner and commerical fire insurance. In general, the price of fire insurance in a community with a good PPC is substancially lower than in a community with a poor PPC, assuming all other factors are equal.
In 2015, the Mill Valley Fire Department was contacted by Insurance Services Office or their intent to perform a Public Protection Classification (PPC) survey for the City of Mill Valley.
