Acknowledgement - Mill Valley has historically not fulfilled its stated intent to create a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community for people of all racial and socioeconomic backgrounds, including all those who live, work, attend school and visit Mill Valley. 

 Action - The City of Mill Valley commits to act and encourage community action towards eliminating racial disparities, both inside government and in the community.

July 6, 2020 - City Council adopts its annual budget, which includes $30,000 for DEI initiatives.
October 19, 2020 - City Council confirms the outcomes of their 2020 Annual Retreat, which includes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion identified as a Priority Project.
January 21, 2021 - Recreation Department requiresfield use requests to include a provision requiring the organization to work with Mill Valley Recreation and the Parks & Recreation Commission to promote DEI in local youth sport programs by developing or revisiting an organization DEI Statement and submitting information regarding their scholarship program to Recreation Staff. 
March 3, 2021 - Parks & Recreation Commission requires a provision in Old Mill Park use requests to work with Mill Valley Recreation and the City of Mill Valley Parks & Recreation Commission to promote DEI in their events. 
March 3 - Parks and Recreation Commission establishes that an update on DEI initiatives will become a standing item on their regular meeting agendas.
March 24, 2021 - Southern Marin Fire District Board adopts Diversity Initiatives as part of their 2021-2022 Strategic Objectives.
April 5, 2021 - Council proclaims April 2021 as Fair Housing Month.

June 2, 2021 - MVPD Policy Manual 2021 updated
June 7, 2021 - Council proclaims June 2021 as LGBTQ Pride Month
July 8, 2021 - City Council adopts Mill Valley Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act Transition Plan
July 8, 2021City Council confirms the outcomes of their 2021 Annual Retreat, which includes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion identified as a Priority Project.
 July 8, 2021City Council adopts a Resolution to provide funding for “Housing First” case management and allocates $63,000 to support County-wide efforts to support people experiencing homelessness.
 In 2017, the City Council appointed the Housing Advisory Committee (HAC) to encouraging the continued diversity of housing, income levels and lifestyles within the community. The HAC meets regularly and their initiatives are tracked on their webpage.
