Are You an #SLPWarrior? How Many Can You Walk?

Steps, Lanes and Paths, or as they are called, SLPs, criss-cross throughout the City of Mill Valley and neighboring communities. All year long these well-used pathways are vital routes for citizens to access the downtown area and could be life-saving evacuation routes in the event of a catastrophic event. To increase awareness in these wonderful ways to get around town, the City of Mill Valley is hosting a SLP WARRIOR contest – how many can you walk?

During the month of April, the City of Mill Valley is challenging you to walk the many SLPs that are throughout the City. From April 1st through Earth Day, April 22nd, each time you walk an SLP, take a picture of yourself in front of the sign and post it to Instagram or Mill Valley Recreation's Facebook page with #SLPWarrior included and you will be entered into a contest to win a 20 punch card to access the recently renovated fitness center at the Mill Valley Community Center (winner must be 14 years or older). For the younger Warrior (under the age of 14), the winner will be awarded a week of summer camp!

There are so many different types of SLPs, however many are long staircases that might be challenging for some to walk. To help you map you course, we’ve provided a small subset of our SLP larger map. The SLPs closest to downtown are all stairs. Once you move further away from the downtown, closer to the Community Center you will find pathways that are accessible to strollers, bicycles and wheelchairs. ANY SLP counts in the contest.

GET YOUR HIKING SHOES OUT AND YOUR CAMERA AND START WALKING! Each time you send a picture to or post a photo on Instagram #SLPWARRIOR, you will be entered.
