Delve into your family history this summer at the Mill Valley Public Library with genealogy classes led by the Marin Genealogical Society. Also take part in our moderated genealogy meetups. Have you been wanting to double check those rumors about royalty in the family tree or learn more about your relatives who came out West during the Gold Rush? The Marin Genealogical Society will provide a primer on the ins and outs of, a powerful online tool for conducting genealogical research. Learn how to search’s more than 20 billion family history records – birth, marriage, death, military service and immigration records – to trace your family history and find your relatives. You’ll also learn how to use to build a family tree.

Saturday, June 9th | 1:00pm

So you’ve taken an Ancestry DNA test, now what? Join the Marin Genealogical Society to learn what all the buzz is about genetic ancestry testing and what you can do with the results of your test. From discovering where your ancestors came from and exploring migration patterns to breaking through difficult parts of your family tree, DNA testing is becoming a powerful tool for exploring your ancestry. The class will also address concerns regarding DNA research, from privacy issues to the chance of discovering unexpected information.
