1/2 Acre Vegetation Fire Quickly Contained

On Friday, August 17, 2018, at approximately 3:39 pm, the Mill Valley Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the area of Edgewood Reservoir (Edgewood/Sunnycrest). First arriving units observed a wind-driven vegetation fire burning in the mowed field of the former reservoir. Fire personnel were able to contain the two-alarm fire to under 1 acre with no structures damaged. Mutual aid from Southern Marin Fire Protection District and Marin County Fire Department assisted Mill Valley firefighters in quickly containing and extinguishing the fire. Mill Valley Police and Marin County Sheriff's Deputies provided traffic control. Mill Valley Fire Department resources will remain on scene for the next several hours to ensure the fire is completely out.

At the time of the fire, a resident walking in the area observed two young adults running from the fire’s origin. A preliminary investigation identified two used smoke bombs in the area of origin where the individuals were seen.
