Housing Advisory Committee Update for July 2019

The Mill Valley City Council has assembled a Housing Advisory Committee (HAC) to provide advice and recommendations regarding affordable housing needs in Mill Valley, and as a means of advancing various General Plan programs aimed at encouraging the continued diversity of housing and income levels in the City. The Committee is an advisory body to Planning Commission and City Council on matters related to the Housing Element of the General Plan and the Affordable Housing Ordinance. Committee members include Jessica Jackson, Committee Chair and City Council liaison, Ann Bolen, Committee Vice-Chair and Planning Commission liaison, John McCauley, City Council liaison, Nate Bossard, Planning Commission liaison and Matthew Franklin, Member at Large. 

Two HAC meetings have been held; the kick-off meeting was held on March 20, 2019 and the second meeting was held on June 18, 2019.  The HAC has received an overview of background materials and existing conditions to inform discussion of identifying a range of initial options to consider as priorities for committee exploration and discussion and begun discussion about identifying initial policies and programs that should be pursued in the short-term (next two years) to address housing needs and opportunities.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend upcoming HAC meetings. Scheduled upcoming meetings for 2019 will be held on Aug. 6, Sept. 30, and Nov. 13 at City Hall Council Chambers, 26 Corte Madera Avenue in Mill Valley, CA. Times may vary. Check the webpage above for meeting agendas.
