Extra Stop Sign Pilot at Miller and Throckmorton Avenues

October 8, 2019

The sign was installed the first week of October to address concerns raised regarding the intersection’s unique layout - only 3 of the 4 intersection legs require a motorist to stop before crossing the intersection. The sign and striping are temporary and being used as a test for possible intersection improvement.

The intersection works adequately for residents and those familiar with the intersection, but Mill Valley receives a significant amount of visitors each year who are not familiar with the intersection’s configuration.

The goal is to reduce potential confusion and increase safety by letting folks know that 1) they are required to stop and 2) vehicles from the right do not stop.

The sign will be in place for a month or so - and we would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Send us an email at DPW@cityofmillvalley.org
