Pet Waste – Scoop it, bag it and place it in your own trash can!

October 24, 2019

Our community loves dogs, but please be respectful of others and refrain from throwing away your dog’s waste in other people’s trash bins!

Pet waste should be properly bagged and disposed of in a public trash receptacle along your walk or taken back to your home and placed in your own ”garbage” bins. They absolutely do not belong in the green compost, brown container recycling, or blue/brown paper/cardboard recycling bins provided by Mill Valley Refuse! Even waste in a “compostable bag” cannot go into the green bin! And definitely do not flush it down the toilet.

Many frustrated residents have noted dog poop being improperly disposed of in their home’s recycling or compost / yard waste bins by those passing by on a walk with their pet. In addition to the unpleasant smell, these residents are having their recycling and compost / yard waste bins rejected and uncollected because of the improper disposal of pet waste that is not even their own.

This is a friendly reminder to do your part to be neighborly and dispose of waste in the proper manner.

A little courtesy and respect will always go a long way in Mill Valley, and is appreciated by all.
