SLP 63, La Paloma Lane, was rebuilt this October
A Boy Scout from Troop One in Mill Valley redesigned the stairs on the top portion of SLP 63 on West Blithedale, otherwise known as La Paloma Lane, to complete his requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the scouting program. This fall, Nicholas Lyons asked the city if he could make improvements to a badly worn section of an SLP that connects West Blithedale Avenue with Eldridge Avenue. The top flight of this connector SLP had originally been built with asphalt stairs that began to crumble overtime making the path uneven and hard to walk.
In October, Nicholas and a group of volunteer scouts, used pick axes and shovels and removed most of the original stairs. The following weekend, they returned to build a new flight out of eucalyptus ties and gravel. The result was a new, safe flight of stairs that can be enjoyed by many. Thank you again Troop One!
