Take the 2020 Census - Your Response Matters!

Every 10 years, people in California and across the country fill out their Census questionnaires to help provide an accurate count of all people in the United States.

Why does it matter?

The Census determines California's federal funding, which helps support families and ensures our fair share of representation in California and Washington D.C.

For each person not counted, communities will lose an average of $1,000 per person, for 10 years! We can't afford an undercount in California.

With your help, we can receive our full share of the resources California needs.

What can you do?

You should have received an invitation or reminder letter by mail to complete your 2020 Census. Complete the questionnaire by mail, phone or online through April 30th.

If is safe, private, and won't take long to complete. Be sure to count everyone living with you on your Census questionnaire, no matter their age or citizenship status.

Taking part in the Census also helps HCD to:

  • Attract federal funding to build more affordable homes and address homelessness
  • Understand the needs in your community and better deliver our services
  • Improve and evaluate the design and implementation of our current and future programs and policies

We all matter, so let's make sure that we are all counted. To learn more about the 2020 Census, visit " data-mce-href=">">
