Starting Tuesday, July 21, 2020, PG&E will conduct helicopter flights to inspect electric distribution lines in Marin County, related to their PublicSafety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program.
According to PG&E, "The pre-PSPS flights are designed to gather information that helps PG&E understand the amount of time it takes to safely complete the patrol. In addition to improving overall safety, the pre-inspections help crews execute future patrols more efficiently and provide key information to better determine timing for restoring electric service to customers."
Helicopters will fly low, roughly 100 feet, on selected weekdays. They may begin as early as 7 am and may fly until 5pm. Flights will take place in the areas of San Rafael, Sausalito, Ignacio, Alto, Bolinas, Novato, Greenbrae, Olema and Woodacre.
Power will not be interrupted during the inspections.
