The Miller Avenue Streetscape Project is an 18-month construction project to repair infrastructure and improve multi-modal use of Miller Avenue, including addressing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages and abilities,providing better transit access, and improving motorist safety.
Construction began the week of June 13, 2016 and will continue through Fall 2017. Please note that all construction schedules are subject to change due toweather restrictions and other unforeseen delays.
Here is the latest news on the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project:
What happened last week: Work crews placed new concrete between 319 Miller Avenue and Locust Avenue. Work crews removed the concrete along the north side of Valley Circle and Evergreen installed new electrical and irrigation systems after the concrete was removed. The contractor also installed new sewer manholes, lines and clean-outs along the south side of Willow and Reed.
What is happening this week: The Contractor will place new concrete sidewalks between Valley Circle and Evergreen along the North side. Work crews will improve sewer service lines along the south side of Miller Avenue between Willow Street and Reed Street. Work crews will install new sewer manholes and new connections to private properties in this area.
Concurrent with the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project is the PG&E Gas Main and Service Lateral Replacement Project. PG&E continues to work their way on Miller Avenue from Gomez Way towards Reed Street. Please anticipate lane shifts and some parking impacts during this project. Work on this project will take place weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm.
What to expect in the next few weeks:The contractor will work on the placement of concrete sidewalk, curb, and gutter, along the north side of Miller Avenue between Valley Circle and Evergreen Avenue. Additionally,work crews will install new sewer lines and cleanouts along the south side between Willow and Reed.
Other Construction Projects Around Town: Work on street paving projects in Mill Valley began August 1. A significant phase of pavement rehabilitation is scheduled to occur on weekdays through next week,from 8 am - 5 pm with more than 35 streets being improved throughout Mill Valley.
Additionally, the Sewerage Agency of Southern Marin is working on Camino Alto to upgrade and replace sewage facilities to allow the agency to continue to serve the community in a safe and efficient manner. Work on this project will continue through Friday, August 26,2016.
The City recommends that motorists:
Add time to your trip and plan ahead.
Drive slowly through the construction zone.
Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.
City and Construction Management staff are making every effort to mitigate impacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notify local businesses and residents of the planned work. City and Construction Management staff will provide regular updates to the community regarding the project.
