The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning and a Wind Advisory for the North Bay from December 6, 11:00 PM until December 7, 11:00 AM.
Forecasters are predicting that northeast winds will develop before midnight across the North Bay hills. Winds will increase overnight into Monday morning and overspread much of the Bay Area. The strongest winds will remain in the hills but also drop into lower elevations. The strongest winds are expected during the morning hours of Monday with widespread gusts to 45 mph and localized gusts to 60 mph in the hills.
The concerns of the weather system are that wildfires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Erratic gusty outflow winds may result in dangerous and unpredictable fire behavior. Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution during the Red Flag Warning because a simple spark could cause a major wildfire, including the use of equipment and machinery as well as smoking.
