The Miller Avenue StreetscapeProject is an 18-month construction project to repair infrastructure and improve multi-modal use of MillerAvenue, including addressing safety for pedestrians and bicyclists of all ages and abilities,providing bettertransit access, and improving motorist safety.
Construction began the week of June 13, 2016 and willcontinue through Fall 2017. Please note that all construction schedules are subject to change due to weatherrestrictions and other unforeseen delays.

What happened last week:
The contractor completed the installation of the 36 inch storm drain, and associated manhole work, at Miller Avenue and La Goma Street. Work crews completed the installation of all main line underground storm drain lines. The contractor opened the driveway at 7- 11 (349 Miller Ave) and along the north side of Miller Avenue. Work crews installed concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters along the south side of Miller between the former location of Once Around (352 Miller Ave) and Pilates ProWorks (360 Miller Ave). Work crews finished work on the second half of the Chevron Gas Station entrance (360 Miller Ave).
What is happening this week:
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, work will only take place Monday - Wednesday this week. The contractor will encase sewer service laterals in concrete in the Parkway & Passage work area. Work crews will grout seal joints at various locations for the new sewer service as well. Placement of new concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk, will continue along the south side of Miller between the Chevron Gas Station (340 Miller Ave) to the Miller Avenue and Montford Avenue intersection. Work crews are also grading to prepare for curb, gutter and side walk in front of Jiffy Lube (374 Miller). Please note that the pedestrian detour in front of Jiffy Lube will remain in effect over the Thanksgiving holiday. Please be sure to follow pedestrian detour signage at this intersection.
What to expect in the next few weeks:
The contractor will install new sewer laterals between the Café of Life (465 Miller Ave) and Schreier Gregory Cabinetmaker (469 Miller Ave). Work crews will remove and replace concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks on the east corner of Miller Avenue at La Goma Street. In preparation for the planting of new trees in the future, the contractor will excavate and install planting soil in the new planter boxes along the north side of Miller Avenue. Work crews will place the second half of the concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalks in front of Jiffy Lube (374 Miller Ave).
The City recommends that motorists:
Add time to your trip and plan ahead.
Drive slowly through the construction zone.
Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.
City and Construction Management staff are making everyeffort to mitigate impacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notify local businesses and residentsof the planned work.
