Mill Valley Fire Battalion Chief Michael St. John receives the “Tom Forster Perpetual Leadership Award”

On March 18th the Marin County Fire Chiefs held their annual recognition dinner.  The dinner brings together chief officers throughout Marin County in an effort to thank last years’ association leaders and install the new officers for the coming year.  Battalion Chief Michael St. John received the Tom Forster Perpetual Leadership Award.  This is the second time in the history of the Association that the award was given out.  The award recognizes leaders who are actively working for improved fire service delivery throughout Marin County.  Awardees are collaborators with outstanding vision, excellent perspective and tireless bridge building skills.  “This award embodies the leadership and very nature of Battalion Chief St. John,” said Fire Chief Tom Welch.  In his acceptance speech, Battalion Chief John stated he was “humbled and surprised” by the award.  The perpetual award will live with the Mill Valley Fire Department for one year, at which time a new member of the Marin County Fire Service will be selected for the honor.
