Miller Avenue Streetscape Project Update: September 13, 2017

Here is the latest news on the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project:

What happened last week:
Work crews began installing the pedestrian bridge in the "Marsh" area across from Tam High sports fields. Work crews installed the two tide gates at the stormwater outlet between The Redwoods and Pickleweed Apartments. Work is coordinated with Marin County and various permitting agencies. Contractors began cleaning the sewer system in preparation for the upcoming sewer lining (or cured-in-place pipe or "CIPP") work. See article below for more details.

What is happening this week:
The contractor is installing bike racks along Miller Avenue. Work crews continue to install the Marsh pedestrian bridge. Work crews continue cleaning the sewer system during the day, and sewer lining night work will begin September 14-15 from 7pm-7am, with additional day work as needed.

What to expect in the next few weeks:
The contractor will prepare median islands and sidewalk planting areas in the Main Street room in anticipation of landscaping work. Work crews will continue to install the Marsh pedestrian bridge. Sewer lining night work will continue September 17-22 from 7pm-7am, with additional day work as needed. Work crews continue to prepare the median parking areas in the Parkway for final paving treatment and striping - this work is contingent on dry weather.

In late September, work crews will apply a pavement treatment and striping to median parking areas from Willow to Sunnyside. This includes the triangle shaped employee parking lot near downtown, just past Balboa Cafe on the outbound side of Miller. The work will require closing the parking lot for 3 days. See the article below regarding employee parking.

Please Note: There will be parking restrictions and lane shifts, to allow for final paving treatments, striping, sewer cleaning operations and other miscellaneous items. Rain and other factors may impact the schedule, therefore, all dates are subject to change.

City and Construction Management staff are making every effort to mitigate impacts during construction and are working with the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce to notify local businesses and residents of the planned work. City and Construction Management staff will provide regular updates to the community regarding the project.
